Feeling bloated, tired, or just not your best lately? Sometimes, a simple natural remedy can give your body the gentle reset it needs. Amla Aloe Vera juice is one such blend that’s gaining attention for all the right reasons.

Made from two powerful ingredients—amla (Indian gooseberry) and aloe vera—this juice is packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, and soothing plant compounds.

It’s known to support digestion, boost immunity, improve skin health, and even help manage blood sugar. Whether you’re into natural wellness or just curious about easy ways to feel better from the inside out, this juice might be worth a try.

In this blog, we’ll dive into its science-backed benefits, how to make it at home, whether it fits your lifestyle, and any side effects you should keep in mind.

What Are Amla and Aloe Vera?

Before we go into benefits, let’s first get to know about these natural powerhouses:

Before we dive into the benefits, let’s first get to know these natural powerhouses a little better:

Amla (Indian Gooseberry): Scientifically known as Phyllanthus emblica, Amla is often called the “wonder fruit” in Ayurveda for its wide range of healing properties. Rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and essential nutrients, Amla helps boost immunity, supports digestion, and promotes healthy, glowing skin and hair.

Aloe Vera: Botanically named Aloe barbadensis miller, this succulent plant has been cherished for centuries for its soothing and healing abilities. Aloe Vera is packed with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids. It’s widely used to hydrate the skin, reduce inflammation, and support digestive health from within.

    Nutritional Value

While there isn’t enough comprehensive scientific data on the exact nutritional value of amla or amla juice, here is the average nutritional composition per 100 grams (around 3 large fruits):

    • Carbohydrate: 10.85 g
    • Protein: 1.85 g
    • Zinc: 5.29 mg (48% Daily Value (DV))
    • Iron: 2.4 mg (13% DV)
    • Vitamin C: 391.76 mg (435% DV)

According to other sources, amla also contains vitamins B1, B3, and E, along with minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and selenium. However, these nutrients are present in insignificant amounts, typically ranging from 1% to 4% of the daily value (DV) or less.

Below is the nutritional value of 100 grams of aloe vera juice, according to USDA:

    • Water: 96.23 g
    • Carbohydrate: 3.75 g
    • Total Sugars: 3.75 g
    • Vitamin C: 3.8 mg (4% DV)

    Health Benefits

Following are the benefits of amla aloevera juice.

    1. Rich in Antioxidants

Don’t be disappointed that amla and aloe vera juice lacks most of the nutrients, but the juice is loaded with various antioxidants.

Antioxidants are compounds that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals—unstable molecules that contribute to oxidative stress, inflammation, and various chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Amla is nothing short of an antioxidant powerhouse. Its most famous claim to fame is its sky-high vitamin C content—packing an average of 455 mg per 100 grams, making it second only to Barbados cherry. Some sources also report an average of 391.76 mg per 100 grams, reflecting natural variation based on factors like variety and growing conditions.

But the goodness doesn’t stop there. Amla is rich in potent polyphenols like gallic acid, ellagic acid, and ethyl gallate, each known for their impressive antioxidant potential.

You’ll also find a touch of quercetin, a flavonoid that lends extra support in fighting oxidative stress. Together, these compounds create a synergistic shield against inflammation and damage. No wonder amla continues to shine in traditional wellness routines around the world!

Aloe vera juice doesn’t just hydrate—it heals from within. It’s packed with antioxidants like  vitamin C, vitamin E, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, carotenoids, tannins, and anthraquinones.

These compounds work together to neutralize free radicals, reduce inflammation, and protect your cells from damage.

    2. May Boost Immunity
    Amla Aloe Vera Juice Benefits

One of the standout benefits of amla aloe vera juice is its immune-boosting power. Thanks to amla’s high vitamin C content, this juice helps your body fight off infections by acting as an antioxidant and improving the function of immune cells.

A single medium amla (about 30 grams) contains around 118 mg of vitamin C—an impressive 131% of the daily value. Assuming one amla yields about 15 mL of juice, fresh juice can deliver close to the full daily vitamin C requirement.

However, heat processing or long storage can slash this content by half or more. That’s why it’s smart to check the label—some commercial juices are fortified to make up for the loss.

A 2021 study tested the safety and effects of Mulmina® Mango and Mulmina® Amla Orange in 120 people with COVID-19 or healthcare workers. Both supplements, taken with standard treatment for 28 days, showed significant immune-boosting and antioxidant benefits without any side effects, making them safe and effective for use.

While aloe vera doesn’t contain as much vitamin C as amla, it has also shown potential to boost immunity.

For instance, a study tested UP360—a blend of rosemary, Poria cocos, and aloe vera—in healthy adults aged 40–80 during flu vaccination. Over 56 days, it significantly improved immune markers like γδ T cells, IgG, IL-7, and GSH-Px, without affecting quality of life or causing any side effects.

    3. May Improve Digestive Health

Amla aloe vera juice can be a powerful natural remedy for digestive issues.

Rich in antioxidants such as gallic acid, ascorbic acid, and phenolic compounds, amla can help enhance the immune system and digestion.

A study tested amla extract in mice with functional dyspepsia. The extract was found to improve digestion by boosting gut movement, balancing digestive hormones, and restoring healthy gut bacteria, showing potential for digestive health support.

Other studies suggest that amla may help relieve various digestive issues, including symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, colitis, ulcers, and even inhibit Helicobacter pylori, the microorganism responsible for causing gastric ulcers.

Aloe vera is also known for its digestive benefits.

A study on rats found that aloe vera gel helped heal ethanol-induced gastric ulcers by reducing stomach damage, lowering inflammation and oxidative stress, balancing stomach acid, and improving tissue structure. It worked by targeting antioxidant levels, acid secretion, and cell inflammation pathways.

Aloe vera extract was also found to be safe and effective for people with diarrhea-predominant IBS (IBS-D). A combined analysis of two studies showed it significantly reduced pain and other symptoms, with over half of IBS-D patients experiencing noticeable improvement.

The combination of these two ingredients can help soothe the digestive tract, prevent constipation, and promote regular bowel movements.

    4. May Promote Skin Radiance

Amla and aloe vera are both excellent for the skin, making this juice a natural beauty elixir.

The vitamin C in amla boosts collagen production, maintaining skin firmness and elasticity, while its powerful antioxidant properties shield the skin from UV damage and free radicals.

While aloe vera is well known for its skin benefits when applied topically, its juice—being 96% water—may help with hydration and its antioxidants might help protect against UV damage. However, there are limited studies on how drinking aloe vera juice affects skin health.

    5. May Enhance Hair Health

Amla aloe vera juice may also support your hair health.

Amla has been topically used for centuries in Indian tradition to enhance hair health. Rich in vitamin C, it stimulates collagen production—essential for hair structure—and protects hair cells with its antioxidant properties. However, studies directly linking amla consumption to hair health are still limited.

While aloe vera has been used since ancient times to enhance hair health, there are limited studies confirming whether drinking its juice provides similar benefits.

    6. May Support Heart Health

Amla aloe vera juice can be beneficial for heart health in several ways.

Rich in beneficial compounds like myricetin, gallic acid, and kaempferol, amla juice has been shown to reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol. It may also help lower blood pressure, improve sodium and potassium balance, and boost antioxidant activity and nitric oxide levels — all of which support heart health. However, not all studies have shown the same results.

In human trials, though, amla has consistently been shown to lower total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDL, while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol.

While aloe vera juice contains various antioxidants that may support heart health, scientific research on its cardiovascular benefits remains limited.

    7. May Help Manage Blood Sugar Levels
    Amla Aloe Vera Juice Benefits

Amla Aloe Vera juice may help manage blood sugar levels due to its rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

A 2024 study explored the effects of a daily supplement combining 1,000 mg amla and 50 mg olive fruit extracts in 191 hyperlipidemic adults with diabetes or prediabetes. After 2 months, it significantly reduced blood sugar in diabetic and prediabetic groups without side effects.

However, further research is needed to confirm results, test long-term effects, and different dosages.

The bioactive compounds in aloe vera help break down fats and sugars in the body, which supports healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels and helps maintain a normal body weight.

A review of five clinical trials involving people with prediabetes and early untreated diabetes found that aloe vera significantly reduced fasting blood sugar, HbA1c, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol, while increasing HDL cholesterol.

However, the results were inconsistent, more well-designed studies are needed to confirm these results.

    8. May Have Liver-Protective Properties

While both amla and aloe vera are traditionally believed to support liver health, scientific evidence in humans is still limited.

Amla’s rich antioxidant content, particularly vitamin C and polyphenols, may help reduce oxidative stress and support overall liver function, as seen in some animal studies.

For example, an animal study found that amla extract helped reduce liver damage, cholesterol, and fat buildup in mice with NAFLD. It also improved gut bacteria balance and restored key metabolic processes, suggesting its potential to support liver and gut health.

Aloe vera has also shown potential liver-protective effects in preclinical research, but excessive or unprocessed forms may cause harm.

An animal study found that aloe vera gel helped protect the liver from damage caused by cadmium exposure. It reduced oxidative stress, inflammation, and cell death, while improving liver markers and gene activity. These results suggest aloe vera may help prevent toxin-related liver injury.

More well-designed human studies are needed to confirm whether Amla Aloe Vera juice truly benefits liver health.

How to Make Amla Aloe Vera Juice at Home

Here’s a simple way to make one serving of Amla Aloe Vera juice at home:

    Ingredients:
    • 2 fresh amla or 20-30 mL amla juice
    • 1 ounce (31 g) aloe vera gel (fresh or store-bought, edible grade)
    • 1 cup water
    • Optional: a pinch of black salt or honey for taste
    Instructions:
    1. If using fresh amla, deseed and blend them with water. Strain to get amla juice.
    2. Add the aloe vera gel and blend again until smooth.
    3. Pour into a glass. Add black salt or honey if desired.
    4. Drink fresh, ideally on an empty stomach in the morning.

Should You Add Amal Aloe Vera Juice Into Your Diet?

Including Amla Aloe Vera juice in your routine can be a healthy choice when consumed as part of a balanced diet.

Always choose pure, food-grade aloe vera gel—preferably with low anthraquinones and processed to remove aloin for safety.

Drink it in moderation, typically 30–50 mL mixed in a cup (240 mL) of water. If you’re pregnant, on medication, or have gut sensitivity, consult a healthcare professional before use.

    Side Effects

Although Amla Aloe Vera juice offers numerous benefits, it is essential to be aware of potential side effects, especially if consumed in excessive amounts or if you have certain medical conditions. Here are some potential side effects of Amla Aloe Vera juice:

    • Digestive Issues: Aloe vera contains strong laxative compounds like anthraquinones, which can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, or dehydration. Amla, being highly acidic, may cause heartburn or irritation in those with sensitive stomachs.
    • Allergic Reactions: Additionally, some people might be allergic to amla or aloe vera and may experience allergic reactions like itching, swelling, or rash.
    • Pregnant Women: Amla or aloe vera, both are not tested for safety during pregnancy. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult doctor before adding amla aloe vera juice into their diet.
    • Drug Interactions: People using medications for conditions like diabetes or heart disease, should consult a healthcare provider before consuming this juice, as it may interact with certain medications or cause complications.
    • Electrolyte Imbalance: Due to aloe vera’s natural laxative properties, consuming in large amounts can cause frequent bowel movements. This may lead to loss of essential electrolytes like potassium and sodium, potentially resulting in muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, or fatigue.

Additionally, long-term use of anthraquinones may cause intestinal inflammation, prolonged menstrual bleeding, and reduced nutrient absorption.

Aloe vera juice also contains aloin, which—despite its potential neuroprotective benefits—is a strong laxative and can be toxic in large amounts. That’s why it’s best to limit intake to 30–40 mL per day.

While amla is widely used in traditional remedies, there’s limited scientific evidence on its long-term safety. So, it’s wise to consume amla aloe vera juice in moderation, typically 30 mL once or twice a day.

Whether you’re healthy or taking it as a natural remedy, consult your doctor to determine the right dosage and avoid any side effects.

    The Takeaways

Amla Aloe Vera juice is a powerful medicine that represents the essence of natural healthcare. This natural tonic provides an integrated approach to well-being, boosting immune and digestive health while also enhancing skin radiance and assisting with weight management.

While Amla Aloe Vera juice benefits are numerous, it is essential to consume it in moderation and be mindful of potential side effects, particularly if you have underlying medical conditions or are taking medications.

Consulting with a healthcare professional before incorporating Amla Aloe Vera juice into your diet can help ensure its safe and effective use.

By including Amla Aloe Vera juice into your daily routine, you will embark on a revolutionary journey of vitality, longevity, and inner harmony.

Wishing you health, happiness, and radiant well-being!
